One of my favourite things is visiting restaurants with lovely food and beautiful decor. I recently visited The Bar at Macau for my boyfriend's birthday earlier this month (the entire place is know as The Macau Gaming Lounge and Bar, with the gaming lounge downstairs). It is located at 28 Lindsay Crescent, Kingston 10, just off Dunrobin Avenue. One thing I really loved about this place was that it had outdoor dining on the roof, and not the typical indoor dining that we're much more used to. The candlelit ambiance gave it a great feel, and sounds of old & modern R&B could be heard all night, keeping the vibe alive.
We went on a Wednesday around 7:30 pm and we were seated immediately. It wasn't completely packed, but there were quite a number of persons there already, with more coming in as the hours went by. While browsing through the menu, we opted for some chicken quesadillas to munch on, and pineapple and fruit punch juice, which were great by the way. I had no idea of how their menu was set up as we didn't originally plan to go there, but it was pretty simple with items such as chicken sandwich and fries, baby back ribs, and jerk chicken pasta.
Initially my boyfriend wanted to order the shrimp and chips, but we were informed that there was no shrimp available. Bummer! He then selected the fish, which he took with a side of creamed potatoes and some tartar sauce. I went for the breaded parmesan chicken and a side of creamed potatoes also.
The food was ok. It didn't extremely wow us, but it was delicious enough for the night. It took them about an hour and fifteen minutes to bring our food, and when our waitress did, she didn't bring any napkins, at all! I'm guessing the wait was as a result of the many persons there that night, so I'll let that pass. I'll try to go back on one of those nights when there are less people there to see if the service is any different. The staff was very polite by the way!
Overall, The Bar at Macau is a great hang-out spot with great ambiance, has decent food with reasonable prices, and I would visit again to try out some more items from their menu.
