The Caribbean Blog Awards was held on December 5, 2014, at The Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston. It was such an amazing event honouring some of the best of the best in Caribbean blogging and social media, that I'm already looking forward to next year's staging.
The dress code for the event was 'elegant', and so I opted for this gorgeous plum Miakalani gown. Miakalani is a line owned by Jamaican designer, Brittany Johnson. So, instead of pulling out my Charlotte Russe dress that I had planned on wearing this time around, I figured this was the best event to support and showcase a local designer doing her thing.
There are three things I love about this dress. From the thigh-high slit, to the backless detail, to the plunging neckline, there really isn't anything else I would be caught dead wearing. As soon as I saw the dress, I knew right then and there that I wanted to throw in some gold accessories. These gold sandals from Bakers are super comfortable and were actually given to me by my best friend before she migrated to the UK. You may have also noticed the nude clutch with gold accents that I featured in a previous post. Of course, I also had to do some last minute shopping for this cut-out cuff bracelet from Style Savvy. I was totally pleased with how the look came together.
Have a great Sunday!
